Preservatives

Preservatives inhibit microbial growth in food and liquid pharmaceuticals. Microbial metabolism or the rapid mixing of preservative solutions can generate gases and stubborn biological foam. Defoamers work synergistically to collapse this foam without deactivating the preservative.

    FEATURES

General Properties: Food/pharma-grade antimicrobials (e.g., sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, parabens); typically white crystalline powders or clear liquids.
Synergistic Role: In high-sugar or nutrient-rich liquids, minor microbial activity or high-shear mixing can cause foaming. The defoamer must be chemically inert, ensuring it does not react with, absorb, or deplete the active antimicrobial ingredients.
     Performance Benefits:
Maintains Antimicrobial Efficacy: Chemically compatible defoamers ensure the preservative's active ingredients are not neutralized or depleted by the defoamer carrier.
Eliminates Bio-Foam: Rapidly collapses sticky, hard-to-break foam caused by minor microbial activity, fermentation byproducts, or protein degradation.
Extends Shelf-Life Stability: By preventing foam overflow and maintaining a sterile, homogeneous environment, it supports the overall preservation and quality system of the product.
