Penetrants

 General Properties: Low-molecular-weight, high-activity surfactants (e.g., sulfosuccinates, alcohol ethoxylates); typically clear, low-viscosity liquids.

 Synergistic Role: Penetrants drastically lower surface tension, which naturally stabilizes foam. The defoamer must rapidly collapse these bubbles without forming a hydrophobic film that would block the penetrant from entering the fiber capillaries.
