Gas Treating Chemicals

Amines and glycols are used to remove acid gases (H₂S, CO₂) and moisture from natural gas. These solutions are highly prone to foaming in absorber towers. Defoamers work synergistically with them to prevent tower flooding and chemical loss.

    FEATURES

General Properties: Alkanolamines (e.g., MDEA, DEA) or glycols (e.g., TEG); typically clear, water-soluble, high-boiling-point liquids.
Synergistic Role: Hydrocarbon contaminants and degradation products cause severe foaming in amine/glycol contactors. The defoamer must be highly stable at high temperatures and pressures, instantly collapsing foam without reacting with or degrading the amine/glycol solvent.
     Performance Benefits:
Prevents Tower Flooding: Eliminates foam buildup in absorber columns, maintaining optimal gas-liquid contact and processing capacity.
Reduces Chemical Loss: Prevents amine or glycol carryover (entrainment) into the sweet gas stream, saving costly solvent replacement.
Ensures Gas Purity: Maintains stable liquid levels, ensuring the treated natural gas meets strict pipeline specifications.
