Demulsifiers
FEATURES
General Properties: High-molecular-weight nonionic surfactants (e.g., EO/PO block copolymers, phenolic resins); typically oil-soluble or water-dispersible liquids.
Synergistic Role: During separation, pressure drops and agitation release dissolved gases, creating massive foam that traps oil and water. While the demulsifier coalesces water droplets from the oil phase, the defoamer collapses the gas-liquid foam interface, preventing foam from blocking the oil-water interface.
Performance Benefits:
Accelerates Three-Phase Separation: Synergistically breaks both the liquid-liquid emulsion and the gas-liquid foam, drastically reducing residence time in separators.
Improves Separator Capacity: Eliminates foam pads that take up valuable vessel volume, increasing overall throughput.
Meets Export Specs: Ensures the separated crude oil and produced water meet strict moisture and oil-in-water limits for transport or disposal.
