Construction

AEA

AEAs intentionally introduce microscopic, stable air bubbles into concrete to improve freeze-thaw resistance. Defoamers (specifically "air-control" agents) are used synergistically to remove harmful large bubbles while preserving the beneficial micro-bubbles.

    FEATURES

General Properties: Anionic surfactants (e.g., vinsol resin, alkyl sulfates); typically dark amber liquids or powders.
Synergistic Role: This is a delicate "bubble sizing" synergy. The AEA creates the necessary micro-foam (10-100 µm), while the defoamer selectively collapses the unstable macro-bubbles (>1 mm) generated by mixing, without destroying the AEA's beneficial micro-bubbles.
     Performance Benefits:
Optimizes Air Void System: Ensures the correct air content and spacing factor for maximum freeze-thaw durability.
Removes Macro-Bubbles: Eliminates large, unstable voids that would otherwise weaken the concrete structure.
Stabilizes Fresh Concrete: Prevents excessive air fluctuations during pumping and transport, ensuring consistent slump and air content at the job site.
